Chris Alexander
Chris became a bone fide vinyl addict in his teenage years, riding the 12” single boom of the times and amassing a vast collection populated by reggae, funk and new wave. His specific interest was in the leftfield experimental funk of A Certain Ratio, Gang Of Four & The Pop Group and, inevitably, this appreciation led Chris straight to the electronic outpourings of house & techno in the late eighties.
These exciting times had a profound influence on Chris, who began to
utilise his ever expanding library of music and took to the Technics
decks as an occasional club DJ. In 1994, Chris decided on a major career
change and made music his profession, starting his post production career
as a tape copier at the legendary Chop Em Out. He transferred to Heathmans
two years later and patiently worked his way up to the position of vinyl
mastering engineer that he occupies today.
Chris specialises in all styles of electronic club music with a strong
core of cutting edge UK & US House music. Labels of this stripe include
Freerange, Tango, Still Music, Detour, Nightshift, Nordic Trax, Toolroom,
Generate Music and Defected. His recent projects have ranged from big
house remixes for chart acts on Sony BMG, Warners & Universal to
rare Soul and Disco re-issues on Still Music sister label Past Due.
