Rob Thomas
Rob kicked off his musical apprenticeship in his teenage years, accompanying his brother Beau to music programming sessions and picking up the studio basics by the age of 16. Boosted by this invaluable first hand experience, Rob began to listen to his favourite music with new ears, and identified different production techniques and values for different genres. His hands-on experience of the processes behind writing music helped point his creative aspirations towards studio work. The opportunity he needed provided itself when he joined Heathmans Mastering in 1997.
With his skills apparent, Rob quickly progressed from runner, through
duplication via Quality Control Engineer to his berth as a CD mastering
engineer. Rising through the ranks fleshed out his understanding of audio
processing and formatting. By the time he earned his mastering promotion,
Rob was ready to tackle a wide repertoire of modern music. He has excelled
in the R&B and dance genres and is developing daily his complete
pop palette.
